Kazakhstan's Shchuchinsk-Borovoye resort braces for record 2 million visitors in 2024

The Shchuchinsk-Borovoye resort area is preparing for a busy year ahead. Officials expect visitor numbers to rise to 2 million, up from 1.8 million last season. New facilities and expanded services aim to improve the experience for tourists arriving from June 1 onwards. Major infrastructure projects in the region are set to finish this year. Two new hotels and two recreational areas will open their doors, increasing accommodation and leisure options. The resort zone also plans to add twelve more restroom facilities, bringing the total to 41.

The Burabay resort remains the most popular destination, attracting up to 85% of all visitors. To manage the high footfall, authorities are reviewing the operating hours of public amenities in busy spots. Some may stay open 24/7 to better serve tourists.

Helicopter tours over the resort will continue, with possible plans to introduce small-plane flights. Additionally, two free public beaches will launch on Lakes Shchuchye and Borovoye. The region also aims to draw around 15 billion tenge in private investment this year to support further growth. The holiday season officially begins on June 1, with more facilities and services ready for tourists. Expanded amenities, new attractions, and increased investment are designed to handle the growing number of visitors. The region’s focus remains on improving accessibility and comfort for all guests.
