Investor Protection Committee Monitors $205 Billion in Projects as Kazakhstan Strengthens Investor Safeguards

Kazakhstan's new committee slashes business-related crimes by 75% in three years

A specialised committee set up under the Prosecutor General’s Office is making progress in protecting investors and businesses. Since its launch in December 2025, the Investor Rights Protection Committee has overseen more than 3,000 projects worth over 100 trillion tenge ($205.6 billion). Its work has already led to a sharp drop in criminal cases involving companies.

The committee focuses on legal safeguards and resolving key issues that hinder investment activity. It also takes a hands-on role in preventing problems before they escalate. The committee’s mandate covers legal protection for investors and addressing obstacles in their operations. Common challenges include access to land, infrastructure gaps, permit delays, registration issues, and disputes with state bodies. To tackle these, a prosecutor is now assigned to each investment project for continuous oversight and support.

Since the start of the year, over 600 investors have received direct assistance from the committee. One of its key tools is the 'prosecutor filter', which has blocked more than 1,500 proposed actions by government agencies. This mechanism has contributed to a four-fold reduction in criminal cases against businesses over the past three years.

Beyond intervention, the committee is building a platform to help investors and agencies settle disputes without going to court. The aim is to streamline resolutions and reduce legal burdens on businesses. The committee’s efforts have already cut criminal cases involving companies by 75% in three years. With ongoing oversight and a new dispute-resolution platform in development, investors now face fewer legal risks. The system continues to expand, covering projects worth hundreds of billions in investment.
