Kazakhstan launches one-click payroll tax service to cut red tape
A new one-click payroll tax service has been introduced by the Tax Code Implementation Project Office. The system aims to simplify tax payments for employers by automating calculations and reducing paperwork.
The pilot launch is set for September 2023, with full implementation expected by January 2027. Initially, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will test the service before it expands to larger businesses.
The service allows employers to calculate and pay mandatory payroll contributions with a single click. It automatically computes all required payments, accounting for exemptions and special categories of workers. This eliminates the need for employers to submit Form 200.00, cutting down on administrative tasks.
In addition to calculations, the system generates and sends payment documents directly to banks. This further reduces the burden on businesses, streamlining the entire process. The meeting also covered other tax-related updates. Participants agreed to resume the issuance of Kazakhstani tax residency certificates to foreign citizens by tax authorities. This decision follows difficulties faced by second-tier banks in verifying the tax status of foreign clients. Another topic addressed was the expansion of income exempt from individual income tax for beneficiaries of mortgage refinancing programmes.
The new service will be voluntary at first, giving businesses flexibility in adoption. Its introduction marks a shift toward digital tax administration, aiming to save time and reduce errors. Full implementation across all enterprises is planned for early 2027.
