Tax cuts for MSMEs in Karaganda region - statement by the akim

Karagandy slashes tax rate to 2% for 44,000 entrepreneurs in 2026

Entrepreneurs in Karagandy will soon pay less tax under a new regional policy. The local maslikhat (council) has cut the rate for simplified declarations to 2%, a move set to benefit thousands of small and medium-sized businesses. The decision follows a directive from the president to improve conditions for SME growth. Governor Yermagambet Bulekpayev announced the change, which targets nearly 44,000 entrepreneurs across the region.

The reduced tax rate will apply from January 1, 2026. Officials aim to ease financial pressure on small businesses and encourage wider economic activity.

With the new 2% rate, Karagandy’s entrepreneurs will see lower tax burdens starting in 2026. The policy directly affects 44,000 businesses and aligns with broader efforts to support SME expansion in the region.
