Johann Print Marks 50 Years of Local Business Success in Neuwied
For half a century, Johann Print has stood for quality, reliability, and innovation in Neuwied. To mark the company's 50th anniversary, economic development officer Alexandra Rünz visited the family-run business to offer her personal congratulations.
The printing house was founded by Josef Johann, who previously headed the in-house print shop at Luchterhand Verlag (now Wolters Kluwer). In close coordination with the company, he struck out on his own to handle outsourced printing work. In its early years, much of the business came from Wolters Kluwer, as well as print orders for Neuwied's clubs and religious communities. Step by step, the operation grew into an independent and thriving enterprise.
The next generation was brought on board early when Oliver Johann joined after completing commercial school and an apprenticeship in printing. A major milestone in the company's history was the construction of its new facility on Gumbinnenstraße. "We printed during the day and built in the evenings," recalls Oliver Johann.
To meet the growing competitive pressure over time, Johann Print expanded into a new business segment in 1999 by establishing a lettershop—a service that has since become a core part of the company. Alongside technological advancements, customer service, flexibility, and straightforward collaboration play a crucial role. In an era of rising demands, these qualities give the business a real competitive edge, says Johann.
For Alexandra Rünz, the printing house's success story exemplifies local entrepreneurial strength. "Johann Print demonstrates how a mid-sized company can reinvent itself over decades without losing sight of its roots. Businesses like this are a vital part of our economic landscape," emphasizes Rünz.
"The first 50 years are behind us," says Johann. A key factor in that success has always been the team. Cohesion, dedication, and a shared joy in their work have carried the company through every challenge. Our city portal wishes Johann Print continued success for the next 50 years and beyond.
