Info Edge secures ₹1,000 crore for its third venture fund after near-unanimous shareholder approval
Shareholders of Info Edge (India) Ltd have overwhelmingly approved a plan to invest up to Rs 1,000 crore in the company's third venture fund. The resolution passed with near-total support, securing 99.9995% of votes through a postal ballot and remote e-voting system. Co-founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani later confirmed the outcome on X (formerly Twitter).
The new capital will be managed under Info Edge Venture Investment Fund III. Smartweb Internet Services Ltd will serve as both the investment manager and the fund's sponsor. This marks the third fund launched under the Info Edge Ventures name, following Fund I in 2020 and Fund II in 2024.
Info Edge has a long history of supporting early- and growth-stage Indian startups across multiple sectors. To date, the company has invested Rs 3,959 crore ($467 million) in its portfolio, which now holds a fair market value of Rs 36,855 crore ($4.3 billion) as of FY25. Its stakes in Zomato and PB Fintech alone were valued at Rs 31,500 crore ($3.7 billion) by March 2025.
The company's investment strategy has delivered strong returns, with an internal rate of return (IRR) exceeding 36% annually. Out of 111 startups backed by Info Edge, 76 have gone on to attract co-investors or secure follow-on funding rounds. Public institutional shareholders and 99.98% of public non-institutional shareholders voted in favour of the latest fund proposal.
The Rs 1,000 crore fund will expand Info Edge's ability to back emerging startups in India. With a track record of high returns and significant portfolio growth, the company continues to play a key role in the country's venture capital landscape. The new fund is expected to further strengthen its position in early-stage investments.
