India Quotient's Gagan Goyal steps down after seven transformative years
Gagan Goyal, a General Partner at India Quotient, has announced his resignation from the venture capital firm. His departure comes after seven years in the role, with plans to either launch a new venture or advise startups in the future.
The move follows India Quotient’s recent expansion of its leadership team, adding Sahil Makkar and Kanika Agarrwal as new partners. Goyal began his career as an engineer at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation in 2004. Two years later, he co-founded ThinkLABS Technosolutions, where he worked for over a decade before joining India Quotient in 2017.
During his time at the firm, India Quotient closed its fifth fund (Fund V) in October 2022, securing $129 million (₹1,132 crore). The fund focuses on backing pre-seed and seed-stage Indian startups, including idea-stage ventures. Recent investments from Fund V include Reo.Dev, HomeEssentials, and General Autonomy.
Goyal informed the firm of his decision to leave just a week ago. His next steps may involve starting a new business or taking on advisory roles within the startup ecosystem. With Goyal’s exit, India Quotient continues its operations under an expanded leadership team. The firm remains focused on early-stage investments, having recently deployed capital from its latest fund. His departure marks the end of a seven-year tenure at the venture capital firm.
