Iceland Seafood International to Elect New Board at 2023 AGM

Iceland Seafood International hf will hold its Annual General Meeting on March 24, 2023, at 4 PM. The event takes place at Hilton Reykjavík Nordica, where shareholders will elect a new Board of Directors without a ballot. Five candidates have been proposed for the board, alongside two alternates.

The company has strengthened its position in Iceland's fish processing sector over the past five years. Through acquisitions and export growth, revenue rose by roughly 25%, reaching around €450 million by 2025. Its share of whitefish processing climbed from 12% to 18%, outperforming competitors like Marel hf and Brim hf, which focused on equipment and pelagic fish respectively. Despite industry challenges such as quota cuts and higher costs, the firm maintained steady growth.

Five candidates are nominated for the board: Birna Einarsdóttir, former CEO of Íslandsbanki hf with over 30 years in banking; Bergþór Baldvinsson, CEO of Nesfiskur, employing around 400 people; Ingunn Agnes Kro, ex-General Manager of Jarðvarmi slhf and board member of multiple companies; Jakob Valgeir Flosason, CEO of Jakob Valgeir ehf and a current board member since 2019; and Halldór Leifsson, Marketing and Sales Director of FISK Seafood ehf, with three decades in the seafood industry. Guðmundur Kristjánsson, CEO of Brim, is proposed as an alternate member.

Further details about the meeting are available on the company's website.

The meeting will finalise the board's composition, with no formal voting required. Shareholders can review the candidates' backgrounds and the company's recent performance ahead of the event. The board's new members will guide Iceland Seafood through ongoing industry shifts and growth plans.
