Germany's Women Investors Alliance Aims to Reshape Early-Stage Funding by 2035

A new initiative called the Women Investors Alliance has launched in Germany to boost diversity in early-stage financing. Coordinated by Business Angels Deutschland (BAND) e.V. and backed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), the alliance seeks to increase the visibility and influence of female investors and founders. Its long-term ambition is to transform the country's capital market by 2035 through structural change.

The alliance was established in 2024 with support from over 15 key players in the startup and investment sector. These include FIN, encourageventures, Auxxo, HTGF, BVK, the German Startup Association, Venture Ladies, and BAND itself. While no additional organisations have officially joined as active partners yet, the initiative remains open to new members committed to advancing diversity in funding.

The alliance has set clear targets for the next decade. By 2035, it aims to raise the share of female business angels and founders to 50%. It also plans to double the number of participating organisations and expand the pool of experienced angel investors. To achieve this, the group will run communication campaigns and host annual flagship events.

One of the first major gatherings will be 'Female Funding '26', scheduled for March 24, 2026. This event will bring together investors, founders, policymakers, and influencers from across the partner networks. The alliance also focuses on mobilising more capital for female entrepreneurs while strengthening networks for mentoring and knowledge exchange.

Dr. Armgard Wippler from the BMWE highlighted the initiative's importance. She noted that Germany still has untapped potential in making its innovation and financing ecosystem more diverse. The alliance aims to address this gap by fostering open, inclusive, and diverse structures.

The Women Investors Alliance plans to grow into a nationwide movement by 2035. Its efforts include increasing female representation in early-stage financing, expanding networks, and driving long-term structural change. The first major event in 2026 will mark a key step toward these goals.
