Ex-Amazon Worker Transforms a Farm Into a Community Haven for Families

A former Amazon employee has turned a Washington farm into a thriving community space. Andrew Miller left his corporate job to focus on family and farming, creating a destination where visitors can connect over shared experiences. His decision followed years in the military and a growing desire for a simpler, more meaningful life.

Since taking over Tulip Valley Farm in Skagit County, Miller has reshaped it into a place where people gather for hands-on activities. The farm's popularity has surged, with visitor numbers doubling each year under his leadership.

Miller's journey began in 2018 when he purchased his first farm for $1.6 million. After parting ways with an early business partner, he acquired Tulip Valley Farm and set about transforming it. His vision centred on family and community, a shift from his previous career.

Before farming, Miller spent 14 years in the Air Force and National Guard. Later, he worked at Amazon but left to prioritise time with his six children, two of whom are autistic. The pandemic became a turning point, prompting him to launch 'pick-your-own' experiences at the farm.

The whole family now contributes to the farm's daily operations. Miller's 15-year-old son even learned to drive a forklift to help out. What started as a personal change has grown into a place where visitors seek connection and simple joys.

The farm's success reflects Miller's dedication to his values. While exact visitor figures and economic impact remain undisclosed, the steady rise in attendance suggests a growing demand for the kind of experiences he offers.

Tulip Valley Farm now stands as a testament to Miller's commitment to family and community. The farm's expanding visitor base highlights its appeal as a space for shared moments. With his children actively involved, the business continues to evolve as both a family project and a local attraction.
