Ex-A&E Doctor Raises £11.2M to Revolutionise Local Healthcare Access

Dr Sonia Szamocki, a former A&E doctor, has secured £11.2 million in funding for her healthcare startup 01Health. The Series A round was led by Gresham House Ventures. The company aims to expand specialist healthcare access through local GP networks. 01Health was founded in 2022 by Dr Szamocki to address gaps in healthcare delivery. She believes the main barrier to better care is access, not cost. The platform is designed to bring high-level medical services to smaller clinics, bridging the gap between city hospitals and local practices.

The funding round included major investors like Gresham House Ventures, Balderton Capital, Eka Ventures, and Wavemaker360. Nicolas Cary, co-founder of Blockchain.com, also contributed as an angel investor. Greta Anderson of Balderton Capital highlighted Dr Szamocki’s vision to build infrastructure that connects specialist care with general practitioners.

Zixin Pan of Gresham House Ventures noted the platform’s ability to let specialists support GPs remotely. The investment will help launch 01Health across the UK and introduce it in the US. Practices, practice groups, and dental organisations will be able to licence the platform. The £11.2 million funding will accelerate 01Health’s expansion and improve specialist care access in local clinics. The platform’s rollout is expected to benefit GP networks in both the UK and the US.
