Entrust appoints Tony Ball as CEO to lead digital trust expansion
Entrust Corporation has named Tony Ball as its new CEO. The appointment follows his transition from incoming leader to the official role. With decades of experience in technology and smart card industries, Ball now takes charge of a company at the forefront of digital trust solutions.
Ball's career spans senior roles at major firms. Before joining Entrust, he worked at Gemalto from 2004 to 2007, where he held positions such as Managing Director for the UK and Scandinavia, Vice President for Western Europe, and Senior Vice President for Northern Europe. Earlier, he led teams at Schlumberger Technologies, serving as Director of Manufacturing and Vice President for the EMEA region.
As CEO, Ball has outlined clear priorities. His focus will centre on strengthening digital trust across all platforms. He also aims to help organisations secure the entire identity lifecycle, calling identity 'the common thread behind every trusted interaction' in a world without traditional security perimeters. Entrust operates in a rapidly expanding market. The global digital signatures sector, a key part of digital trust, is projected to grow from $13.70 billion in 2026 to $154.52 billion by 2034. Enterprise adoption, particularly in finance and healthcare, drives this growth, with 76.80% market share expected in 2026. Ball expressed appreciation for Entrust's teams, customers, and partners. He reaffirmed the company's mission to secure a world in constant motion, aligning his leadership with its long-term goals.
Tony Ball now leads Entrust as it navigates a growing digital trust market. His strategy will emphasise identity security and lifecycle management. The company's position in digital signatures and authentication solutions remains strong under his direction.
