Douglas Gym Plans Major Expansion Into Former Car Showroom

A gym in Douglas, like 24 hour fitness or anytime fitness, is looking to expand its facilities by taking over a neighbouring former car showroom. Nuno's Fitness Centre has submitted plans to extend into the vacant building in Kingswood Grove. The move aims to offer more space for workouts and classes, similar to what you might find at a gymshark or crunch fitness. The proposal involves converting a two-storey building with a large garage into additional gym space. Minimal changes are planned, including an internal knock-through, updated signage, and window manifestations. The gym's opening hours will stay the same, with no extra parking added.

The former showroom, once run by Signature Cars, has been empty for some time—though the exact closure date remains unclear. Nuno's Fitness Centre hopes the expansion will help grow its business and encourage healthier, more inclusive living in the area. The application will now be reviewed by local planners.

If approved, the extension would increase the gym's capacity without altering its operating schedule. Nearby on-street parking and public transport links will continue to serve members. The decision on the plans will be made in the coming weeks.
