Doman Building Materials holds steady earnings despite Q1 2026 revenue dip
Doman Building Materials Group Ltd. has released its financial results for the first quarter of 2026. The company, listed on the TSX as DBM, reported a slight dip in revenue but maintained steady earnings compared to the same period last year. Shareholders also received a dividend payment in April.
The company’s consolidated revenues reached $762.0 million in Q1 2026, down from $793.2 million in the same quarter of 2025. Despite this decline, net earnings remained nearly unchanged at $23.9 million, compared to $23.6 million the previous year. EBITDA also saw a minor decrease, dropping to $68.1 million from $70.0 million in 2025.
Gross margin percentage improved slightly, rising to 17.0% in Q1 2026 from 16.7% in 2025. The majority of sales—83%—came from construction materials during the quarter. Amar S. Doman, Chairman of the Board, addressed the results by highlighting the effect of lower pricing in some construction material categories. He also noted uncertainty about how pricing trends would develop for the rest of 2026. In addition, the company declared a dividend of $0.14 per share, which was paid to shareholders on April 15, 2026.
Doman Building Materials Group maintained stable earnings despite lower revenues in Q1 2026. The company’s gross margin improved, and shareholders received a dividend payment. However, pricing pressures in certain material categories remain a key factor to watch in the coming months.
