Craig Hunter named Global Studios' new Managing Director to drive expansion
Global has named Craig Hunter as the new Managing Director of Global Studios, its podcast and digital production division. The company, known for shows like The News Agents, My Therapist Ghosted Me, and Up To Speed, will now see Hunter oversee its creative and commercial expansion. He joins after seven years as Creative Director at STV Studios Factual.
Hunter brings a strong background in unscripted content. At STV Studios, he led the growth of its factual division, turning it into a major producer of returning brands and documentaries. Before that, he worked at the BBC as Lead Commissioning Editor for natural history and specialist factual, greenlighting programmes such as Blue Planet Live and Inside the Factory.
At Global Studios, he will manage creative partnerships with The Overlap and The Fellas Studios, both acquired by Global in 2025. His role also involves driving growth in the UK and abroad, working closely with Group CEO Simon Pitts and Chief Broadcast & Content Officer James Rea. Pitts welcomed Hunter's appointment, calling him a dynamic leader with a proven track record in creativity. Rea added that Hunter's experience in building successful teams would be invaluable. Hunter himself described the move as an exciting opportunity to shape the next phase of Global Studios' development.
Hunter's arrival marks a new phase for Global Studios as it strengthens its position in podcast and digital production. He will lead the company's creative strategy while expanding its commercial reach. The appointment follows Global's recent acquisitions and signals further growth in the sector.
