Cologne Central Station unveils sleek new Deutsche Bahn travel hub

Deutsche Bahn has reopened its travel centre at Cologne Central Station after a major renovation. The updated space is part of a broader modernisation push across Germany's rail network. Last year, the company's lounges served around 3.3 million passengers nationwide. The newly refurbished travel centre now spans 320 square metres, equipped with 16 service counters. This upgrade follows Deutsche Bahn's latest design concept, already rolled out in five other cities.

Cologne's DB Lounge has also reopened after its own renovation. Covering 448 square metres, it offers 100 seats split between premium and comfort zones. The location marks the sixth to receive the updated look, joining Düsseldorf, Nürnberg, Hamburg, and Berlin. Further modernisations are planned for Mannheim, Dresden, and Göttingen later this year. Meanwhile, Bremen and Essen lounges closed in November 2025. Deutsche Bahn currently operates 13 lounges across the country, with more updates scheduled for 2026.

The renovations at Cologne Central Station reflect Deutsche Bahn's ongoing efforts to improve passenger facilities. With more upgrades set for 2026, the company continues refining its network's travel and lounge services. No new lounges are planned, but existing sites will receive further attention.
