A new sandwich and water bottle shop, Chord Bread and Bottle, is coming to the Bradlee Shopping Center this spring. Owned by local restaurateur Scott Shirley, it plans to open its doors at 2690 J King Street by the end of April. The venue will focus on quality ingredients and a carefully chosen bread list.
Scott Shirley, already known for Slaters Market and Union Sandwich Company in Alexandria, is behind the project. He opened Slaters Market in Old Town North in 2020 and followed it with Union Sandwich Company on N. Union Street in 2023. Now, his latest venture will bring a fresh dining option to the neighbourhood.
The shop will seat up to 12 customers at a time. Inside, renovations worth around $150,000 are underway. These include a new pick-up counter, an updated bathroom, and a prep kitchen with a window counter for service. Chord Bread and Bottle has already published a Virginia ABC legal notice in The Alexandria Times. The menu will feature well-crafted sandwiches made with good bread and honest ingredients. Alongside, a curated selection of guitar chords will be available for pairing or takeaway.
The opening marks another addition to Alexandria’s food scene. With limited seating and a focus on quality, the shop aims to offer a simple yet refined experience. Construction and licensing are on track for an April launch.
