Chinese AI startup claims it tracked US stealth bombers in real time

A Chinese AI startup has claimed it tracked US stealth bombers in real time, raising questions about Beijing's military ambitions. Jingan Technology, based in Hangzhou, said its systems monitored B-2 aircraft over Iran. The announcement comes as China pushes to dominate artificial intelligence by 2030. Jingan Technology was founded in 2021 by Shi Qiaomu, a former Alibaba engineer. Originally focused on urban security, the company now targets defence applications. Its recent claim involves detecting US B-2 bombers, though experts remain sceptical about the technical feasibility.

Another Chinese firm, MizarVision, has released high-resolution satellite images of American military bases. These developments align with Beijing's strategy of merging civilian and military technology. The government actively supports AI startups working on defence, though no official count of such companies exists for 2023–2026.

China's broader goal is to overtake the US in AI leadership by the end of the decade. The fusion of private-sector innovation with military needs forms a key part of this plan. The startup's assertions highlight China's push to integrate AI into defence systems. If verified, such capabilities could shift regional military balances. Meanwhile, Beijing continues to invest in startups that bridge civilian tech and national security.
