Broadridge's tokenized repo platform hits $7.2 trillion in May transactions
Broadridge Financial Solutions has reported a significant rise in its Distributed Ledger Repo (DLR) activity. In May 2023, the platform processed an average of $362 billion in daily repo transactions. The total volume for the month reached $7.2 trillion, marking a 220% increase from the previous year. The surge in activity reflects growing adoption of tokenized settlement in financial markets. Horacio Barakat, Global Head of Digital Innovation at Broadridge, linked the growth to efforts to modernise market infrastructure. The DLR platform is already the world’s largest for settling tokenized real assets.
Broadridge has now expanded its tokenization capabilities to cover multiple asset classes. This allows institutions to manage both traditional and digital markets through a single system. The DLR platform helps improve liquidity efficiency, collateral mobility, and operational simplicity for users.
By enabling the smooth movement of tokenized securities, DLR enhances capital utilisation. It also reduces operational friction within existing market workflows. The May figures demonstrate the platform’s rapid scaling. Institutions are increasingly turning to DLR for its ability to streamline processes and support modern settlement methods. The expansion of tokenization capabilities further strengthens its position in the market.
