Broadridge's ProxyVote upgrade empowers investors with Pass-Through Voting

Broadridge Financial Solutions has enhanced its ProxyVote platform to support Pass-Through Voting for asset management firms. The upgrade aims to provide investors with more control over how their shares are voted. Vanguard will be the first firm to adopt this new feature as part of its existing investor programme.

The updated ProxyVote system now allows eligible investors to review and choose their preferred voting policy immediately after submitting their proxy ballot. This simplified process aims to make voting more accessible and transparent.

Broadridge's enhancement targets the wider asset management sector, simplifying the implementation of Pass-Through Voting schemes. The company believes this move will bolster shareholder democracy by increasing participation.

Vanguard's adoption of the feature comes through its Vanguard Investor Choice initiative. While no other major asset management firms have publicly announced similar plans by the end of this proxy season, Broadridge's platform remains open for future integrations.

The new capability enables investors to align their votes more closely with personal preferences. Asset management firms using ProxyVote can now scale their voting programmes more efficiently. The update reflects a push toward greater investor engagement in corporate governance.
