Böblingen's 90-second pitch battle crowns a math tutoring startup winner

The 2025/26 Startup Competition in Baden-Württemberg has kicked off with a fresh round of regional pitches. On 19 March 2026, the Böblingen Regional Cup saw ten teams present their business ideas in just 90 seconds each. The event is part of the long-running Start-up BW Elevator Pitch, which has supported founders across the state since 2013.

The competition took place in Böblingen, where entrepreneurs pitched their concepts to a panel of judges. Among them was Viktor Becker, founder of MatheBuddy, a digital platform offering one-on-one maths tutoring for home learning. His pitch stood out, earning him first place and a guaranteed spot in the state finals later this year.

Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economic Affairs, Labor, and Tourism, highlighted the district's commitment to fostering startups. The Böblingen event is one of over 50 regional qualifiers held annually across Baden-Württemberg. Cities like Stuttgart, Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Freiburg and Heilbronn have frequently hosted these preliminary rounds, each sending their winners to the state finals. The Start-up BW Elevator Pitch initiative, launched in 2013, aims to guide founders through every stage of business development. From early ideas to scaling, the competition provides visibility, networking opportunities and expert feedback.

Becker's victory in Böblingen secures his place in the upcoming state finals, where he will compete against other regional winners. The competition continues to expand, with more founders gaining access to resources and mentorship. The next rounds will determine who advances to the final stage of the 2025/26 Startup Competition.
