Bitcoin crashes below $60K—is this the bottom or just the beginning?
Bitcoin's price has dropped sharply in early February, hitting lows not seen since 2024. After peaking at around $126,000 in October 2025, the cryptocurrency has lost over half its value this year. Despite the decline, some analysts now see the current levels as a potential buying opportunity for the stock market today.
The downturn began in late January, with Bitcoin falling from roughly $88,000–$92,000 to below $60,000 by February 6. By that evening, it had recovered slightly to around $71,000. This decline marks a steep drop from its 2025 high, though the bitcoin price remains above the 2023 peak of under $69,000.
Market sentiment has turned sharply negative, with analysts describing the mood as 'extreme fear.' The 25-Delta Skew, a measure of market caution, stayed negative even after a brief rebound at $60,000. Technical charts suggest that holding above this level could ease the correction, but risks remain.
ETF outflows have added pressure, with bitcoin price funds seeing withdrawals since their October peak. Meanwhile, gold and silver ETFs have attracted more investment. Bitwise analysts warned that continued outflows could trigger further capitulation.
Despite the gloomy outlook, some experts view the dip as a chance to buy. Jurrien Timmer, Fidelity's director of global macro, called $65,000 an attractive entry point. Another Fidelity analyst noted that sub-$60,000 levels have historically preceded market recoveries.
Bitcoin's price has stabilised somewhat after its sharp fall, but caution persists. The combination of ETF outflows, negative sentiment, and technical signals suggests further volatility ahead for the stock market today. Analysts remain divided, with some eyeing the current levels as a long-term buying opportunity for the btc price.
