Beyond Meat's plant-based burgers and steaks earn historic climate solution status
Beyond Meat has become the first plant-based meat company to earn climate solution status for two of its products. The Beyond Burger IV and Beyond Steak now carry this qualification, valid until February 2027. The brand's mission focuses on tackling climate change while offering familiar food choices. Founded in 2009, Beyond Meat produces plant-based alternatives designed to mimic meat. Their products use simple, non-GMO ingredients and contain no added hormones, antibiotics, or cholesterol. The company's 'Eat What You Love®' slogan reflects its goal of making sustainable eating accessible.
A two-pack of Beyond Burger requires 97% less land and 92% less water than a standard U.S. beef patty. It also produces 88% fewer greenhouse gas emissions. The Beyond Steak and Beyond Burger IV cut emissions by at least 50% compared to their beef equivalents. The company emphasises transparency and corporate responsibility. Its plant-based proteins aim to reduce pressure on natural resources while supporting human health and animal welfare.
Beyond Meat's climate solution certification applies only to its U.S. products for now. The qualification highlights the environmental benefits of switching from animal to plant-based protein. The company continues to expand its range of sustainable food options.
