Austrian Stonemason Wins National Prize for Curved Limestone Masterpiece

A stonemasonry business in Upper Austria has won a top national design prize for the first time. Georg Leeb, founder of stone4you, received the award during this year's Stone Masonry Education Week in Traunkirchen. The winning piece was an intricately crafted staircase made from Croatian limestone.

Leeb started his workshop 25 years ago in Schöngrabern, near Hollabrunn. What began as a small craft business has since grown into stone4you GmbH, now employing 54 people.

The award-winning staircase stands out for its elegant curves and technical precision. Judges described it as both an artistic and engineering achievement, making it the focal point of the competition.

Though this marks the company's first nationwide victory, Leeb has built a reputation for high-quality stonework over the decades. The prize highlights his team's skill in transforming raw materials into refined architectural features.

The recognition places stone4you among Austria's leading stonemasonry businesses. The curved limestone staircase will remain on display as an example of craftsmanship in the field. For Leeb, the award caps a quarter-century of growth since founding the business in 1999.
