Aterian's Eastinco launches tantalum export venture with Wogen Resources

Aterian plc's subsidiary, Eastinco, has launched trading and export operations through a new joint venture (JV) with Wogen Resources Limited. The partnership aims to boost Eastinco's presence in the commodity market, particularly in tantalum—a material in high demand. Both companies have emphasised their commitment to responsible sourcing and international compliance standards from the start.

The JV enables Eastinco to expand its trading volumes and capture downstream margins while improving cash flow. With tantalum ore prices hitting record highs of around US$225 per pound, the market reflects both tightening supply and rising demand. The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa's primary tantalum source, remains a key supplier to global markets.

Wogen, established in 1972, brings decades of experience in delivering high-value raw materials to the non-ferrous sector. The partnership provides Eastinco with same-day purchase liquidity, strengthening its procurement capabilities. It also introduces an institutional-grade risk management and governance framework, reducing Eastinco's reliance on equity funding for growth. Eastinco has already completed its first export operation with Wogen and is now aggregating further supply under the JV. The increased volatility in commodity markets has created enhanced margin opportunities, benefiting both partners. All operations will adhere to internationally recognised traceability and responsible sourcing standards.

The joint venture improves Eastinco's working capital model and accelerates its trading growth. By leveraging Wogen's expertise and the current high-value tantalum market, the partnership is set to strengthen Eastinco's position in the sector. Both companies will continue operating under strict compliance and governance frameworks.
