Anthropic's $65B mega-round leads a record funding surge in AI and tech

A wave of major funding deals has swept through the tech and energy sectors this month. Several startups secured hundreds of millions in new investments, with valuations soaring into the billions. The largest round came from AI leader Anthropic, which doubled its valuation in a single funding push. Anthropic dominated headlines by raising $65 billion in its Series H round. The deal, led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital, pushed the company’s post-money valuation to $965 billion. This massive injection more than doubled its previous valuation.

AI startup Cognition also made waves with over $1 billion in fresh funding. Backers Lux Capital, General Catalyst, and 8VC valued the company at $26 billion. Meanwhile, logistics firm Stord closed a $250 million Series F round, lifting its valuation to $3 billion.

In the healthcare sector, Garner Health secured $100 million in Series E funding. Index Ventures led the round, placing the company’s valuation at $2.74 billion. Insurance tech firm Corgi Insurance followed closely, raising $106 million in a Series B1 round led by TCV, reaching a $2.6 billion valuation.

Energy startups also saw significant interest. Thea Energy brought in $100 million in Series B funding, backed by the US Innovative Technology Fund. Reactor, a previously stealth-mode company, emerged with $59 million in funding from Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Space tech firm Observable Space raised $90 million in its Series A round, led by Lux Capital. The company also landed a $94 million contract with the U.S. Space Force. Elsewhere, OpenRouter secured $113 million in Series B funding, with CapitalG taking the lead. The funding surge highlights strong investor confidence across AI, logistics, healthcare, and energy sectors. Anthropic’s record-breaking round stands out, but other startups also secured substantial backing. These deals suggest continued growth in high-tech industries, with valuations climbing rapidly.
