Aave Expands to OKX's X Layer, Bringing DeFi Lending to a Faster Network

Aave, the largest decentralised finance (DeFi) lending platform, has expanded to X Layer, OKX's Ethereum Layer 2 network. This marks the protocol's 21st blockchain integration and its most high-profile move yet. Users can now lend, borrow, and earn yield without switching to another chain.

The launch comes as Aave continues to dominate the DeFi space, holding $23.5 billion in total value locked and surpassing $1 trillion in cumulative lending volume. X Layer went live in May 2024 with around $25 million in total value locked. The network offers fast transactions, with block times of one second and average fees as low as $0.0005. Other DeFi platforms like Uniswap, Chainlink, and Stargate had already joined the ecosystem before Aave's arrival.

OKX Wallet users can now interact with Aave directly through the wallet's interface. They can supply assets, borrow against collateral, and earn compounding yield—all without bridging to another blockchain. Supported assets on X Layer include USDT0, xBTC, xETH, and xSOL, with loan-to-value ratios reaching up to 88% on liquid staking pairs.

Aave's recent performance remains strong, generating over $6.2 million in revenue over the last 30 days. This figure is more than five times the earnings of competitor Morpho in the same period. The protocol's expansion to X Layer follows its established presence on major networks like Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Base. The integration gives OKX Wallet users seamless access to Aave's lending and borrowing services. X Layer's low fees and fast processing could attract more activity to the platform. Meanwhile, Aave's continued growth reinforces its position as a leading force in decentralised finance.
